AMD will push Win 8 low voltage processor to compete with Intel

According to Taiwan's IT news media, according to people familiar with the upstream supply chain, seeing that Microsoft will launch the Windows 8 operating system before the end of October, AMD is preparing to launch low-voltage Hondo processing for Windows 8 tablets in the fourth quarter of this year. Compete with Intel's Clover Trail-W processor. The AMD Hondo processor features a 40nm Bobcat architecture and consumes 4 to 5 watts of power. Intel's Clover Trail-W processor is also designed for Windows 8 tablets.

AMD will also release the Tamesh processor in place of the Hondo processor in 2013. Tamesh's architecture was upgraded from Bobcat to Jaguar. The performance and power consumption of this new processor is expected to increase compared to Hondo.

After the recent release of the Trinity processor for laptops, AMD is preparing to release processors for desktop PCs, including the A10-5800k, A10-5700, A8-5600k and A8-5500. AMD will also release the A6-5400K and A4-5300 processors in the fourth quarter. All of these processors will be manufactured by Globalfoundries using a 32-nanometer process.
